Altered Ego is a tight three piece band that perform a great selection of songs from the 1960's through to the present day. The diversity of our set list means there is always something for our audience to sing or dance along to, or simply tap their feet! Check out our Song List page!
We have a strong musical backbone comprising of guitar, bass and drums with harmony vocals and regularly cater for a wide variety of occasions including weddings, anniversaries and birthday parties in venues of all sizes as well as pub gigs. We have a P.A. to fill both small and large venues and our own lighting.
Altered Ego was formed as a three piece band in April 2009. Current Lead Guitarist / Vocalist Nick and Bass Player Jason met up and formed a duo called Kick Inside in late 2008 gigging about a dozen times until Andy joined on Drums and the band Altered Ego was born. During the next 16 months or so the band gigged regularly in and around Leicestershire and Lincolnshire before Andy left to pursue other opportunities and Paul replaced him on Drums, bringing an added dimension to the band with his harmony vocals.

MEET THE BAND - PROFILES
Nick King  | Lead Guitar & Vocals  Nick started to learn guitar when he was 5 and by the time he was 14 he was playing regularly with various bands. After many years of playing pubs and clubs in covers bands he was a founding member of the Melton Mowbray based band ‘Shine’. His intricate guitar playing, Paul Weller style vocals and attention to detail proved to be a great asset to the band and the band quickly gained a large following. After leaving ‘Shine’ because of the classic ‘different musical direction’ reasons he met up with Jason the bass player and formed a duo called ‘Kick Inside’ which with the addition of Andy, the former drummer, was to become ‘Altered Ego’ in April 2009.

Paul Hodgkinson 
Paul started to teach himself the drums when he was 15 listening to his headphones and trying to play along. Before too long he had joined his first band ‘Distorted Harmonic Visions’ and began to play original songs. Paul always gave 100% to his live shows in the early days; he even had to wear drum gloves because of his dedication to playing as hard as he could! Five years and many practices later he had learned to control his drumming and play with much more finesse. He and his friends formed the popular Melton band ‘Malarki’ who wrote and recorded original material and played many gigs through the mid to late 90’s. Then, in the early noughties, he formed ‘The Remedy’, a local covers band who became fairly successful and gained a good following. After ending the Remedy in 2009 Paul took a break from drums until he was approached by Nick to join ‘Altered Ego’ in 2010. Jason Dilley  | Bass Guitar 
Jason started playing bass when he was about 14. His best mate at school started to learn to play the guitar and formed a band at school to play assemblies and at fund-raising functions and he wanted a piece of the action (and the Rock and Roll lifestyle) so borrowed his music teacher's bass one summer holiday and taught himself. A Rock God was born! The band eventually took things more seriously and got together with another guitarist / vocalist, keyboard player and drummer and gigged under the name of ‘Indecision’ in Northamptonshire and surrounding county's clubs and pubs during the early 1990s. The band eventually broke up in 1994. Bass playing took a backseat until finally the urge to gig again became too much and he met up with Nick in 2008, gigging initially as a duo called 'Kick Inside' until 'Altered Ego' was formed in April 2009.
